She touched the little box in her pocket and smiled. Her vibrant green eyes, with a burst of golden orange outlining the pupil, became glossy, and lifeless. The blank, emotionless expression swept over her face as the realization of the moment gradually seeped in. The pain seemed to rise behind her eyes. Paralyzed by the tragic feeling of isolation, she closed her eyes and gazed into fields of nothingness. The tears held onto her eyelashes. The color began to fade away from her face, as her rosy cheeks washed out, and became pale. Quivering lips uttered faint wails and moans of questioning disbelief. Her body convulsed as she collapsed to her knees. She never forgot her mother's last words. "In this box, is a locket. You must take this locket with you wherever you go! Because as long as you have this locket, I will always be with you."
